Bruce Willis
Walter Bruce Willis, Hollywood legend and the ultimate action hero, is an icon of the silver screen. After making his off-Broadway debut in the 1970s, he was propelled to international fame with his leading role in the classic comedy-drama Moonlighting (1985–1989). But it was his portrayal of John McClane in the Die Hard franchise (1988–2013), followed by other iconic roles, that solidified his place in Hollywood's A-list.
Willis's credits include The Last Boy Scout (1991), Pulp Fiction (1994), 12 Monkeys (1995), Last Man Standing (1996), The Fifth Element (1997), Armageddon (1998), The Sixth Sense (1999), Hart's War (2002), Tears of the Sun (2003), Hostage (2005), Lucky Number Slevin (2006), Surrogates (2009), Moonrise Kingdom (2012), Rock the Kasbah (2015) and Motherless Brooklyn (2019). He has also done his fair share of singing, with three successful albums released since 1987.
Willis has received numerous accolades for his career, including a Golden Globe, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and two People's Choice Awards. He was even honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
Sadly, Willis announced his retirement from acting in March 2022, after being diagnosed with aphasia. But, as he said when asked about his decision, "I'm not going to let aphasia stop me from living my life – I'm just going to get a bigger megaphone!"
So, while Willis may have hung up his action hero hat, his legacy will live on. And with all the action, drama, and comedy he's brought us over the years, you can be sure that the world of film will miss him!
