Carey Mulligan is one of the most promising and up and coming actresses in the industry. She's starred in some of the most critically acclaimed films of the past few years, and her career is only going to continue to grow. Carey Mulligan was born in London to Irish parents, and she started her career on stage at the Royal Court Theatre, where she played the role of Marie in the play Forty Winks. Her big screen debut came with a small role in the romantic drama Pride & Prejudice. After that, she appeared in a number of television roles, such as the drama series Bleak House and the television film Northanger Abbey. Mulligan's breakthrough role came as a 1960s schoolgirl in the coming-of-age drama film An Education, for which she won the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She also gained her first nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Since then, Mulligan has continued to be an established actor, with roles in the dystopian romance Never Let Me Go, action drama Drive, which earned her a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, erotic drama Shame, romantic drama The Great Gatsby, and the black comedy-drama Inside Llewyn Davis. In 2015, Mulligan was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in the Broadway revival of David Hare's Skylight. In 2018, she starred in the Netflix limited series Collateral and Paul Dano's acclaimed drama film Wildlife. For her portrayal of a vigilante in the thriller Promising Young Woman (2020), Mulligan received widespread praise and a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Mulligan is set to star in the upcoming science fiction film Woman in the Woods, and she's also working on a new project that is still under wraps. She's definitely one to watch, and her career is only going to continue to grow in the years to come.
