Carrie Frances Fisher (21 October 1956 - 27 December 2016) was an iconic American actress, celebrated novelist, award-winning screenwriter, and acclaimed lecturer. Best known for her show-stopping portrayal of Princess Leia Organa in the beloved Star Wars trilogy, Fisher was also the author of the beloved novel Postcards from the Edge, which she turned into a critically-acclaimed screenplay for the film of the same name. Not one to shy away from her own life experiences, Fisher wrote the hilarious and poignant autobiography Wishful Drinking, which won her a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album. With a larger-than-life personality and an unforgettable sense of humor, Fisher was the life of the party - and she would be the first to joke that the party didn't start until she arrived!
