Emma Stone was born in the small town of Scottsdale, Arizona to Jean and Kevin Stone. Her parents divorced when Emma was two years old, and her mother moved the family to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. As a child, Stone was active in stage productions, making her debut in a 2000 production of The Wind in the Willows. After small television roles, she made her film debut in Superbad and quickly became a Hollywood darling for her role as the love interest of Jonah Hill. Her breakout role came in 2009 when she starred in Zombieland alongside Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg. The film was a major success, and Stone was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Stone continued to star in hit films throughout the 2010s, including Easy A, The Help, and Birdman. Her performance in La La Land won her the Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the third actress to win an Academy Award for acting in a British film. She has since appeared in the critically acclaimed films The Favourite, A Star Is Born, and the mystery thriller Ocean's Eight. In December 2018, it was announced that Stone would star in the title role in the live-action adaptation of the Disney animated film Mulan.
