Harrison Ford
Legendary Hollywood Icon Harrison Ford is a true renaissance man. Born on July 13, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, he comes from a long line of actors, radio personalities, and models. After attending public high school in Park Ridge, Illinois, he took an acting class in his junior year of college at Ripon College, although his real interest was in his gig at the school Radio Station WMTH, where he was the lead voice for sports reporting.
It was in 1964 that he set out to California in search of a voice-over job, but instead signed a contract with Columbia Pictures and scored a weekly salary of $150 to play small roles in various films. His career only gained momentum from there, as he was cast in the 1967 Western film, A Time for Killing, and began to make appearances on TV shows like Gunsmoke, Ironside, Kung Fu, and American Style.
But it was George Lucas who changed the game for Harrison Ford. After his stint as a carpenter, he was cast as Hans Solo in the Star Wars Trilogy and as Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Those two roles alone catapulted him to stardom. Since then, he has starred in over 40 films, although critics have been harsh on his recent performances.
In his personal life, he is fiercely protective of his privacy, but we do know he is married to his third wife, Calista Flockhart, and they have a total of five children, including one recent adoption. He is also passionate about environmental conservation, aviation, and archeology.
Harrison Ford is a man of many talents and never fails to bring a surprise. As he once said, “You know, I’m like a dry-cleaning machine. I take in dirty laundry and I give them back pressed and clean.”
