John Cazale was a larger-than-life figure in the world of Hollywood. He was acclaimed for his talent, his intellect, and his fierce dedication to his craft. He appeared in five Academy Award-nominated films in just six short years, and was even featured in archival footage in a sixth, making him the only actor to have this incredible distinction. He was a theater actor who quickly rose to become one of the premier character actors in Hollywood, starting with his iconic role as Fredo Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather and its 1974 sequel. And even after he was diagnosed with lung cancer, Cazale chose to continue acting, and died shortly after completing his last role in The Deer Hunter. Joseph Papp, a theater producer, said of Cazale, "He was an amazing intellect, an extraordinary person, and a fine, dedicated artist." Truly, Cazale was a one-in-a-million man, and his legacy is one that still resonates today. As they say, some people just have the Midas touch - and John Cazale was one of them! (And now you can laugh - because if you don't, then who will?)
