John Christopher Depp II, AKA Johnny Depp, is a living legend in the world of Hollywood. Born on June 9, 1963, he is the recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and even three Academy Award nominations!
Depp made his debut in the 1984 horror flick A Nightmare on Elm Street, and rose to fame as a teen icon on the television series 21 Jump Street. His work in the 1990s was mostly with independent films and saw him playing eccentric characters, such as the iconic Gilbert Grape in What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Benny and Joon, as well as Donnie Brasco and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Depp collaborated with director Tim Burton in several films, including Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood and Sleepy Hollow.
The 2000s saw Depp becoming one of the most commercially successful and celebrated actors with his performance as the ever-entertaining Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. His work in Finding Neverland and his continued partnership with Tim Burton in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Alice in Wonderland earned him critical praise and commercial success.
