Jorge Garcia
Jorge Garcia, actor and comedian, is a household name thanks to his role as Hugo "Hurley" Reyes on the hit television series, Lost. Garcia has since starred in the FOX television series, Alcatraz, and can be seen singing in the studio for the upcoming project on an officially released YouTube clip.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Garcia attended San Clemente High School and then University of California Los Angeles, where he studied Communication Studies. After graduating in 1995, Garcia began his career in stand-up comedy, touring nationally and appearing on various television shows, including Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
It was Garcia's performance as Hector Lopez on the television show Becker that caught the attention of producers of the hit series, Lost. They were so impressed with his performance that they created the role of Hugo Reyes specifically for him, and Garcia appeared in the second episode of the eighth season of Celebrity Poker Showdown, where he lost to Michael Ian Black.
Since then, Garcia has starred in the FOX television series, Alcatraz, as well as playing a minor character on ABC's Once Upon a Time. He has also performed as a stand-up comedian, and his performances have been featured on various television shows and specials. In addition, Garcia has written a blog about the show called Dispatches from the Island and is also a host for the weekly podcast, Geronimo Jack's Beard.
Outside of acting and comedy, Garcia is also a keen musician. He has played bass in several bands, and his latest project is a rock album called Alcatraz. Due for release in 2012, the album features Garcia on vocals and bass.
