Margaret "Maggie" Grace Denig is an American actress and model. Born in Worthington, Ohio, she moved to Los Angeles with her mother after her parents' divorce. While struggling financially, she landed her first role as the title character in the web-based video series Rachel's Room in 2001. She went on to earn a Young Artist Award nomination in 2002 with her portrayal of 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley in the television movie Murder in Greenwich. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost, on which she was a main cast member for the first two seasons. She left the series in 2006 after winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace appeared in Suburban Girl, The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007), and Taken (2008). She has the lead role of Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised the role of Shannon in two more episodes of Lost, including the series finale. In 2010, Grace joined the cast of the ABC television series Desperate Housewives as Danielle "Dannielle" Schenker. She left the series in 2011 after six seasons. In 2012, Grace starred in the psychological thriller film Don't Tell Mom the Perks of Being a Wallflower, which was screened at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival. The following year, she starred in the horror film The Conjuring, which was also screened at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2016, Grace starred in the psychological thriller film Nerve and the horror film You Were Never Really Here, which premiered at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival. She also starred in the Netflix television series The Haunting of Hill House, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. In 2018, Grace joined the cast of the AMC television series Fear the Walking Dead as Althea Szewczyk-Przygocki. The series premiered on August 23, 2018. In 2021, Grace will star in the psychological thriller film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, which is based on the novel of the same name by Stieg Larsson.
