Mark Wahlberg is an American actor, producer, businessman, and former rapper. He is best known for his roles in films such as Boogie Nights, The Departed, The Fighter, and The Other Guys. He's also the star of the Transformers live-action film franchise. Mark Wahlberg was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1971. As a young man he was a member of the music group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, releasing two albums Music for the People (1991) and You Gotta Believe (1992). He then transitioned to acting, receiving critical praise for his performance in the 1997 movie Boogie Nights. In the early 2000s, he starred in big budget action movies such as The Perfect Storm, Planet of the Apes, and The Italian Job. In 2010 he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor for his role in the sports drama biopic The Fighter. In the 2010s Wahlberg has also starred in a number of successful comedies, including Daddy's Home, Daddy's Home 2 and Ted. In 2017 he was named the world's highest-paid actor. Outside of acting, Wahlberg is an entrepreneur too. He's the co-owner of the Wahlburgers chain and he's served as executive producer of five HBO series, including Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, and How to Make It in America. Mark Wahlberg's incredible achievements have been recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2010. And if that wasn't impressive enough, he's also been immortalized in a joke, with a popular quip asking 'What did Mark Wahlberg do before he was famous?' - 'He was Marky Mark!'
