Matt Damon
Matthew Paige Damon is the quintessential Hollywood success story. From humble beginnings in a small town, he has risen to become one of the most bankable stars in the world, with his films having earned an incredible $3.88 billion at the box office. What's more, he is one of the few actors to have received an Academy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, three BAFTA Award nominations, seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations and six Screen Actors Guild Awards.
But it all began with a high school theater production! After appearing in Mystic Pizza (1988), Damon and Ben Affleck wrote the Academy and Golden Globe Award winning Good Will Hunting (1997). Since then, he has gone on to star in countless iconic films, from Saving Private Ryan (1998) to The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), Dogma (1999), Syriana (2005), The Departed (2006), Ford v Ferrari (2019) and many more.
Of course, how could we forget his starring roles in the Bourne franchise (2002-2016) and Ocean's trilogy (2001-2007)? Or his Golden Globe Award winning role as an astronaut stranded on Mars in The Martian (2015)? And let's not forget his hilarious turn as the rugby player Francois Pienaar in Invictus (2009) or his producer credits on Project Greenlight (2001-2015) and Manchester by the Sea (2016).
But what really sets Matt Damon apart is his sharp wit and impeccable comedic timing. As he once joked, "My career should serve as a warning to others not to make the same mistakes I've made". We can't help but agree!
