Matthew Broderick
Matthew Broderick is an American actor and comedian whose career spans both stage and screen. An off-Broadway star, Broderick got his big break as the lead in Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs. He also starred in the 1983 hit movie Max Dugan Returns, written by Neil Simon. But his breakout role came the same year as a young hacker in the cult classic Wargames.
However, it wasn't until 1985's Ferris Bueller's Day Off that Broderick truly became an international star. His performance as the titular character is considered one of the best in movie history, and the film has become a cult classic.
That same year, tragedy struck when Broderick was involved in a head-on collision in Ireland with his then-fiancee Jennifer Grey, who played his sister in Ferris Bueller. Two people were killed in the accident, and Broderick was initially charged with five years in prison. Fortunately, he was able to avoid jail time and was instead given an enormous fine.
In 1997, after many years of dating, Broderick married Sarah Jessica Parker. The two have since gone on to have three children, making them one of Hollywood's most beloved families.
Known for his quick wit, when asked about his experience in the accident and the subsequent court case, Broderick quipped, "I guess you could say I had a crash course in Irish justice!"
