Peter Dinklage is an American actor whose career has skyrocketed since his breakout role in The Station Agent (2003). The sharp-witted and intelligent Dinklage has since appeared in numerous films and theatre plays, making every role his own. But it is his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister in the HBO series Game of Thrones that has truly made him a household name. He has won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor - Series, Miniseries or Television Film - a feat that speaks volumes of his talent. Peter Hayden Dinklage was born in Morristown, New Jersey, to Diane (Hayden), an elementary school teacher, and John Carl Dinklage, an insurance salesman. His heritage is a mix of German, Irish, and English. After graduating with a degree in drama from Bennington College in 1991, Peter began his career. His amazing stage performances - ranging from The Killing Act to Uncle Vanya - have showcased his immense talent, intelligence, and charisma. Peter Dinklage's first appearance in a feature film was Living in Oblivion (1995). He was praised for his role, which addressed the limited and caricatured roles offered to actors who have dwarfism. This was followed by The Station Agent (2003), for which he was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the "Screen Actors Guild" and Best Male Lead at the "Film Independent Spirit Awards". His other notable films include Elf (2003), Penelope (2006), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008), Death at a Funeral (2007), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). On the small screen, Peter has given life to remarkable characters in shows such as Entourage (2004), Life as We Know It (2004), Threshold (2005), and Nip/Tuck (2003). But it is his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones (2011) that has truly set him apart. His portrayal of the witty and sharp-tongued Lannister has earned him three Emmys and a Golden Globe Award. Peter has also lent his voice to several projects, most notably in Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and The Angry Birds Movie (2016). But perhaps the most impressive feat in Peter Dinklage's career is the way he has managed to make a joke out of his height - he's 4'5" tall - by turning it into an asset. After all, who else could have pulled off that iconic line from Game of Thrones: "It's not easy being drunk all the time. Everyone would do it if it were easy."?
