Richard Jenkins
Richard Dale Jenkins is an American actor whose meteoric rise to fame has been nothing short of a Hollywood fairytale. Born in 1947, his career began on the stage at the Trinity Repertory Company before he made a name for himself in the film industry in the 1980s. Jenkins' breakout role, however, didn't come until the early 2000s when he was cast as the deceased patriarch Nathaniel Fisher in the hit HBO series Six Feet Under.
From there, Jenkins went on to star in a number of box-office hits such as Burn After Reading, Step Brothers, Let Me In, Jack Reacher, and The Cabin in the Woods. Although his performances were always outstanding, it wasn't until he was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his role in The Visitor that he was truly given the recognition he deserved.
Jenkins went on to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his performance in the limited drama series Olive Kitteridge and was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Screen Actor Guild Awards for his role in The Shape of Water.
And if that wasn't enough, Jenkins' career shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. As he himself once joked, "I think I must be the only person in Hollywood who's getting younger!"
