Robert John Downey Jr. is an American actor and producer who is widely known for his incredible talent and charisma. From his acclaimed breakthrough as a young actor to his remarkable recovery from personal struggles, Downey has continually defied expectations and achieved great success.
Having made his acting debut at the age of five in the 1970 film Pound, Downey went on to star in many popular teen films such as Weird Science (1985) and Less than Zero (1987). In 2008, Downey was named by Time magazine among the 100 most influential people in the world, further cementing his place in Hollywood history. He has also won numerous awards including the Golden Globe for Ally McBeal and a Mel Gibson-funded insurance bond for The Singing Detective.
