Sigourney Weaver is an American icon and a pioneer of action heroines in science fiction films. For over four decades, Weaver has consistently delivered captivating and powerful performances that have left their mark on the entertainment industry and the world. From her iconic role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise, to her Golden Globe Award-winning roles in Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl, to her Academy Award-nominated performances in both of those films, Weaver has shown time and time again that she is a force to be reckoned with. Her other notable film roles include Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, Dave, Galaxy Quest, Holes, WALL-E, Avatar, Prayers for Bobby, Paul, The Cabin in the Woods, and A Monster Calls; and the television miniseries Political Animals and The Defenders. In addition to her many award wins, Weaver has also received numerous nominations, including a Tony Award nomination for her work in the 1984 Broadway play Hurlyburly. But it isn’t just her acting that has made her so beloved. It’s her incredible wit and humor as well - she once joked that she “wasn’t born a Sigourney, I wasn’t born a Weaver, I was just born a Weaver” - that has made her truly one-of-a-kind.
