Vijay
Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar, fondly known as Ilayathalapathy Vijay, is an Indian film actor, playback singer and the real-life superhero of South Indian cinema. He is the son of film producer and director S.A. Chandrasekhar, and had his first brush with fame as a child actor in films produced by his father.
He made his full-fledged acting debut in the 1992 film Naalaya Theerpu, and hasn't looked back since. With a career spanning over two decades, Vijay has starred in several romantic and action films such as Poove Unakkaga (1996), Kadhalukku Mariyadhai (1997), Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), Kushi (2000), Priyamaanavale (2000), Ghilli (2004), Pokkiri (2007), Vettaikaaran (2009) and Kaavalan (2011). His films have not only been commercially successful, but have also earned him two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, and a nomination for one Filmfare Award.
Not just limited to the silver screen, Vijay has also been a brand ambassador for several corporations and was the former brand ambassador of the Indian Premier League team, Chennai Super Kings. Whenever he's not acting or singing, you can find him fostering a variety of social causes and helping the needy. Talk about a jack of all trades!
Oh, and did we mention he's a huge prankster as well? In fact, he once managed to fool his entire crew into believing that he was donating his entire salary for a film to charity. Kudos to him for his sense of humor!
