Ving Rhames
Ving Rhames is an award-winning actor whose star continues to shine brighter with every passing year. Born in New York City, Rhames studied drama at SUNY Purchase, where he earned the nickname "Ving" from fellow actor Stanley Tucci. He then transferred to Juilliard and made his debut on Broadway in the play The Winter Boys in 1984.
Rhames' career skyrocketed when he played the role of Marsellus Wallace in the cult classic Pulp Fiction (1994). His star power only grew stronger when he became a recurring character in the medical drama ER, and of course his iconic performance as the ace computer hacker Luther Stickell in Mission: Impossible (1996).
Rhames has been seen in many other hit films such as Con Air, Dawn of the Dead, and Baby Boy. His effortless charisma has made him one of Hollywood's most beloved stars. His performance in Don King: Only in America won him a Golden Globe, but instead of keeping it for himself, he generously gave it to fellow nominee Jack Lemmon, saying "I feel that being an artist is about giving." The audience was so moved by the gesture that they gave Lemmon a standing ovation.
Not only is Rhames an incredible actor, he is also a master of delivering one-liners. They say laughter is the best medicine, and Rhames is here to give us the prescription! So don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing uncontrollably during his performances. After all, what's better than a good joke and a great performance?
