Wanjiru M. Njendu is a Director/Writer/Producer of Kenyan Descent currently living in Los Angeles, California. Growing up, Wanjiru was exposed to many American films and TV shows, and she used this influence to recreate scenes from popular movies like E.T, Superman, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars with her siblings and neighbors. This earned her the nickname "Magic"! Wanjiru's film credits include the critically-acclaimed “Look Again”, which was nominated for a 2012 African Movie Academy Award and won the Best Diaspora Film at the Kalasha Awards in Kenya. She has also worked on television shows such as “Samantha Who”, ‘Super temps”, and “Mostly Evil”. The list of her accomplishments goes on and on! Wanjiru has directed the red carpet interviews for Women In Film’s 5th Annual Pre-Oscar party, a live taping of the SAG-AFTRA and Women In Film Q&A panel of the film MISSRepresentation, and the 2012 Women in Film/ Variety purple carpet interviews for their celebration of the 2012 Female Prime-time Nominees. Her unique background, which combines African and American influences, is something she brings to all of her work. And to top it all off, she's been mentored for the past four years by acclaimed Director Jon Amiel. Talk about the perfect combination of talent, experience, and luck! In other words, Wanjiru has all the tools she needs for success - or, as she likes to say, "a magic wand"!
